Mountain Lodge Telluride

As wedding photographers who work in the area regularly, we had an incredible experience at Mountain Lodge in Telluride. The team kept the day running smoothly for guests and vendors alike, and were thoughtful, organized, and supportive throughout. The outdoor setting is a huge draw for portraits and couple sessions, with forests, mountains, golden aspens in fall, and beautiful mountain light. Indoors, warm wood and cozy fireplaces give the spaces a cinematic feel. The lodge has rustic charm and sweeping alpine views, so it feels elevated while still connected to nature. For a fall themed wedding, it's hard to imagine a better setting. Mountain Lodge in Telluride is a wonderful pick for couples hoping for an authentic, memorable Colorado mountain celebration.

The cancellation process was the worst part. It took nearly four hours to cancel, and the reservations agent was condescending and dismissive. She showed no interest in finding a reasonable solution. We escalated the issue and were told a manager would contact us, but that never happened. The manager sent us back to the same person we had already complained about. We had canceled because conditions at the resort were extremely poor and uncertain: virtually no snow, roughly 10% or less of the mountain open, and lingering operational concerns after the recent labor dispute. Even so, the property charged us for a full night and offered no goodwill gesture, not even a credit toward a future stay. Later we were told the hotel was having trouble processing refunds after migrating to a new system and losing access to original payment details. Guests were being asked to deal with administrative hoops caused by the hotel's own internal changes. This could have ended very differently. A simple credit for that one night would have been fine, and we would gladly have rebooked, probably for multiple nights. Instead, there was rigidity, poor service, and no accountability. It's a beautiful destination, but after this experience, we won't be back.

The team made us feel genuinely welcome at every turn. Cami, Paula, and Lyell at the front desk were smiling, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. Angel and Miguel drove us a few times, and Alejandro from housekeeping was just as impressive. I travel a lot, and it's rare to see that kind of consistency across the whole staff. They go above and beyond and make you feel like you're on vacation. The location is hard to beat, close to everything, a few minutes from the village and near the market, with unbeatable views. The rooms are small but quaint and comfortable, and the property is well maintained. After a long day on the mountain, the pool and hot tubs were perfect. The on call shuttle will pick you up anywhere in the village at any time, which is a huge convenience. We were there for our first Telluride experience, my wife, daughter, and me, and the bar is now set high. Pricing felt very reasonable for the location and quality. I'd absolutely stay here again.

We came for my brother's wedding and loved staying in the San Sophia. Our room had a beautiful view, and all the staff were top notch. The valet was quick and really helpful. By our second day, snow had appeared on the mountains in our view. We were so happy with the stay and hated leaving. Hope we can come back!
