AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown

I won't be staying here again. At the bar, Carla was rude while I waited for my food and seemed annoyed that I'd ordered it. She didn't want to bring it over, either. The location is ideal, but my stay was still disappointing. I booked a lake-view room and got a pool view with only a little glimpse of the lake. When I brought it up at the front desk, the representative showed little concern and made no effort to explain or resolve the mismatch. Make sure you get the room you booked, or they may leave you to deal with whatever they give you. I’m quite literally looking at the floor. Not a fan of this hotel 🏨.

The parking setup was a mess. I had to pay for it, but every time I left, the tag from the desk failed because of an alleged system update. I had to call customer service each time just to get out. And I noticed the housekeeping carts had no vacuums, which made me wonder how they cleaned the floors and rugs. My room looked like they hadn't. My $300-a-night suite was filthy: white stains on the curtains, pubic hair on a washcloth, mold and soap scum in the shower, food crumbs left by a previous guest, and dusty air vents. There was nowhere to put our clothes, either, just a tiny “closet” and four hangers, so my husband and I lived out of suitcases for two days. I've stayed at lots of Marriott hotels, including Residence Inn properties where people live, and those were cleaner and in better shape. This one wasn't worth the price. I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't mind all of that. I emailed Carlos, supposedly a manager, and got no reply. At check-in on New Year's Eve, the man was rude and spoke to me as if I were dumb because I hadn't heard him ask for my ID and credit card. He handed over the keys and told me where to park, but gave me no information about the breakfast I'd purchased, Wi-Fi, or anything else. It was my first stay here, and it'll be my last. I’m picky and precise, and I’d come back. I had a really nice birthday weekend here. The hotel is only seven minutes from the airport, which worked out well after I ended the night with a bang, lol. I didn't try the breakfast, but the bar was full every time I came and went, and the prices seemed decent.

Getting checked in was easy, but the room was a letdown. It smelled musty, the bathroom counter had smudges, and the clogged shower drain left me standing in dirty water. The towels had such a strong bleach smell that I didn't enjoy using them. I found the bed comfortable at first, though it was much too soft to support me. The parking was the worst part: traveling alone, I had to carry my backpack and suitcase up to the third-floor garage stairs because there’s no elevator. People call it “across the hotel,” but it’s a long walk. For the price, location, hassles, and lack of cleanliness, I wouldn't return.
