Homewood Suites by Hilton Phoenix Tempe ASU Area

The location is very good, the staff were friendly, and it’s kid friendly, with a basketball court and a nice outdoor seating area. The room was spacious and had a fully equipped kitchen, but the sofa and chair were old, stained, and uncomfortable. It looked clean at first, but the cleaning missed details and hidden areas. Housekeeping every other day basically meant taking out the trash and replacing towels. They didn’t make the beds or clean the kitchen. This place would be much better with better housekeeping.

A stovetop burner in the kitchenette was a surprisingly unique detail for me. I also liked the greeting screen on the TVs when you come in, and the room was tidy and very clean. The complimentary breakfast is on the lower end of hotel breakfasts, in my opinion, though there was a decent selection each day.

The beds weren’t great and the pillows were flat, but we made do. The sofa and chair cushions were heavily stained and soiled, and wallpaper was peeling off the walls. The front desk staff dealt with us, but the cleaning staff were rude and need better customer service. My family and I came to Arizona for a tournament and picked this hotel based on its “reviews.” After the room had been cleaned, we found Ronda’s dirty toilet brush and cleaner sitting on the kitchen table right next to our food and snacks. That’s a table for eating, and leaving those items there was disgusting. We went to the desk to ask what they’d do if it happened to them, and they seemed dumbfounded. They sent another cleaner, who wiped the table. After that, I had to question Hilton’s cleaning standards and whether Hilton trains staff properly in sanitation.

The manager was the worst part, with no communication and no accommodation at all. The rest of the staff were rude and full of excuses. This place is old, dirty, and uncomfortable, and I can’t remember a business lately that seemed to work so hard to earn a low rating. Breakfast was some version of nasty rehydrated eggs every day. Good riddance!
