Tempe Mission Palms, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

We’ve stayed here a couple of times, right in the heart of downtown tempe. It’s a great spot if you’re in town for an event or just want to party for the night. There’s a nice bar and places to sit around the hotel, the food is good, and the staff are good. Room service was great.

The king suite was roomy and really comfortable, and the hospitality impressed me throughout my stay. When I had a knee injury, the staff thoughtfully sent bags of ice up to my room. Great service all around.

I was here for a friend’s wedding, and the staff were kind, knowledgeable, and ready to help. The two guys on the front desk the evening of Feb. 13th were especially great. They lent me scissors to trim a loose thread on another guest’s dress and later found a bottle opener for the groom, even though it was late.

Tempe Mission Palms has more character than the other Hyatt properties around here, and feels especially connected to the area. The guestrooms have an older style, but they’re clean, generally in good shape, and spacious. I loved spending time in the courtyard. It blocks most of the air traffic noise, with fragrant but inedibly sour oranges growing beside the tall palms. The pool deck has a large pool, two hot tubs on opposite sides, open seating cabanas, and a patio around a fireplace. The service is what stands out most: the front desk knows good places to eat and things to do around Tempe, the restaurant staff are welcoming and quick, and housekeeping and security stay friendly without missing a beat. Jamie and Michael are both upstanding gentlemen and great representatives of the hotel. We’re grateful for their care during our stay. It really does feel like a destination hotel despite its formal sub-brand designation.
