Texarkana Inn

Room 219 was good to excellent in my view. It was brand new, quiet, and I slept really well. I didn’t encounter the problems other guests described. The hotel is being renovated, though the hallway looked awful, cluttered with boxes that I assume were for the work. The Quality Inn sign was covered haphazardly with a flimsy Texarkana Inn sign, which didn’t make me want to stay. The view was ugly, the parking lot needs repaving and cleanup, and there’s an abandoned trailer in back. Please get the place in order soon. The hotel also needs better Google and Priceline ratings to compete. They nearly scared me away.

I booked through the Choice Hotels website with a no-refunds rate, so I was stuck. Otherwise, I’d have left as soon as I walked in. The hotel has an identity problem: ground signs say Quality Inn, the sign on top says Texarcana Inn, and the Wi-Fi says Super 8, though there’s no Super 8 nearby. The lobby was atrocious, like walking into a construction zone. I don’t know why they’re staying open. The room was new, but the fumes took a few minutes to get used to. The door dragged on the floor and needed a hard push to close. The bathroom door fell apart, the faucet handle came off while I showered, and when I tried to adjust the shower head away from the wall, water burst out at the top. It couldn’t be adjusted, probably because a connecting part was missing. I skipped the meager breakfast after seeing dead roaches on the floor by the counter. A kid sitting on the couch handled checkout. She looked around 14. I told her about everything above and got only a “sorry” before she went back to playing a game on her phone. I don’t recommend this place, and Choice Hotels’ website has really gone downhill. They used to have only quality places.

We gave up on this place and found somewhere else at the last minute, since there are no refunds. The pool and breakfast weren’t even worth considering because both the room and the route to them were so disgusting. The hallway smelled like death, and the floor had ashes and something that looked like dried urine. There were cigarette burns and paint on the curtains and sheets. The elevator seems to be permanently out of order, and all the signs say Quality Inn. I hate leaving bad reviews, but travelers should be warned away.

The elevator was out, so I was put on the first floor. The window in the room looked about to come out, the blinds were torn, and the curtains weren’t hung so they couldn’t close. I had to get tacks from staff and pin them to the walls to cover the window. There were no anti-slip strips in the tub, no hair dryer, and no coffee pot in the room. The bedding smelled of cigarette smoke, and the comforter had cigarette burns and paint on it. I took pictures. I won’t stay here again.
