Motel 6 Texas City, TX - I-45 South

Not bad for $52, with a clean smell and appearance, and management who were friendly when contacted. Still, you get what you pay for: the bed felt like a pullout, the sheets were stained, and there was hair on the towels. It took four hours to get extra pillows. A handwritten note at the front desk listed a number to call for service, though an angry man waiting to check in apparently didn’t see it.

There were roaches, the room smelled awful, and the sheets had holes. No cable TV or internet when I arrived, though the internet eventually came back. They didn’t clean the room after my first night, and the people in the next room partied until 5:30 a.m. on the second night. No one was ever at the front desk when I went down. I had to stay three nights, and it was the worst place I’ve ever been. Don’t stay here.

The location worked great for what we needed, and we only stayed one night. But that was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on; honestly, the floor might’ve been better. The shower badly needed Tilex. We’re unlikely to come back.

A call from Jessica, who said she was the manager, came on the day of our vacation, when we were an hour from the hotel. We had booked two rooms months earlier, but she said they were overbooked by 15 rooms and had nothing left for us. She was very rude and offered no solutions. It was an extremely stressful way to start a trip. I recommend looking elsewhere if you don’t want to be treated like a passenger by an airline. Motel 6 and its employee put us in this position.
