We stayed here for a while to save money, and it was a horrible experience. We had to change rooms repeatedly because of mold, roaches, a broken TV, stained and dirty linens, and poor housekeeping. Management didn’t fix the problems. They’d say they would just to quiet us, but nothing happened. When prices went up again, the son at the front desk told my husband, “If you don’t like the mold, the roaches, and the condition of the room then you can leave.” Later, when we left, he said, “sorry it’s business.” I understand business and marketing, but these rooms aren’t worth the money, and the staff, management, and owners don’t deserve it. The son is a chunkier guy with glasses. During our stay, only one employee spoke English well enough for us to communicate properly. I’m not racist, but if you’re working here, learn our language so we can understand each other. We were told the place was being renovated because of new owners, but that won’t fix the roaches, mold, or cleanliness if the people running it don’t take care of it. They don’t stand by their word, don’t take responsibility for poor management and ownership, and don’t care about guests. Their motto might as well be, “If you don’t like the roaches, mold, or room condition, leave with no refund.” Never again. Run away from this place.
The Denny’s in the parking lot was fantastic, with great food and service. The hotel itself was disgusting. We found what looked like a real human tooth, old and rotting with a silver filling, in the bathroom. There were cigarette burns on the sheets and bathroom walls. We tried four rooms, and only one had a working TV. At least there were no bed bugs, which is the bare minimum. Apparently it’s about to become a Motel 8. I hope they bulldoze it and start over, because that seems like the only way it could ever be worth staying in. The place charged $63, and $63 was $63 too much. Avoid it.
We left at midnight and drove two hours home because the room became unbearable. When we came back from our concert in Galveston, the room wasn’t cold and smelled strongly of marijuana, giving my husband and me headaches. Earlier, it had smelled like cigarettes, and there were burn marks on the bedding. The TV was broken, the lighting was poor, and the tub wouldn’t drain right. When I returned the key and explained why we were leaving, the clerk asked how the room had come to smell like marijuana. I said maybe it was because everyone outside our room was smoking it. He didn’t seem to care or ask how he could help. Worst place ever.
The room was filthy, with dirty beds, a dirty bathroom, and roaches, and I didn’t feel safe or clean there. I lost $75, but still left. I booked online in an emergency and hadn’t read the reviews. My booking was for a non-smoking room, but the man there said I had to pay an extra $10 for one. Bookers, beware!
The A/C didn’t work, the room smelled, and apart from the color it looked nothing like the pictures. There were cigarette burns on the cover, and we were afraid to even look under the blankets at the sheets. The place felt very sketchy. I was scared to stay there even though it was daytime. When we told the manager/owner we were leaving, he pointed to the No Refund sign. I said we weren’t staying, so we left and found another hotel. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or unsafe at a place. It wasn’t worth the price. I hope this helps someone. I only gave it one star because I couldn’t leave it blank. Beware, run away, don’t walk.
