I paid 73 plus a 54 pet deposit, so 127 for one night, and it was the worst hotel. There was dirty underwear on the floor, the place was nasty, and the people who seemed to live there were loud, drunk, and yelling by the door. In the first room, the AC didn't work and there was no shower curtain. The mattress was stained and the most uncomfortable one I've slept on. The fire alarms were burned and not even connected, so it didn't feel safe. The place looked nothing like the online pictures, and breakfast was only bagels and cereal. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I'll never stay again or recommend it.

The staff were really accommodating and nice, and check-in and checkout were quick. It's conveniently close to Canal Street and plenty of food options. For the price, it's not a bad spot if you just need somewhere to sleep and aren't expecting anything upscale, moderately upscale, or even average. There were some questionable things, shown in the pictures with this review, and the room could've been cleaned more thoroughly. We had reserved for two but found only one set of towels, so we had to go get another. It wasn't the worst place I've stayed.

The staff were friendly, but there's only so much they can do. Two rooms in our group were so bad that those guests left for other places. In my first room the roof leaked, and the second was only a little better. Under the bed was a mess of gunk, and one bed seemed to have birdseed in it. The few towels I got were so worn you could see through them. This place needs to be torn down. It was gross.

We'd stayed at Carmel Inn for years when visiting the area, but after this one night, we won't be back. We knew Hurricane Ida had caused a lot of damage, though we didn't expect the rooms to be in such poor shape. The floors were so slick it was dangerous to walk around. I asked to switch rooms, but the next one was just as bad. There was food on the floor, the room wasn't clean, and there wasn't even a trash can.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and it was old but clean and nice. This time was the worst hotel visit I've had in years. The tub and bathroom sink were disgusting, the faucet leaked badly, and the smoke detector had been ripped off the wall. The supposedly clean towels weren't clean, and the free soap and shampoo were sticky and dirty. We were too afraid to take the complimentary breakfast.
