Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Denver North - Thornton by IHG

We had one of the three queen rooms with a pullout, which worked perfectly for the four of us. The area is a little rough, but the hotel was great, probably the best place to stay around there.

Breakfast was good, though there wasn't much seating. One kitchen staff member had a bit of an attitude with customers. I told the front desk, and all I got was, “Sorry, ma'am.” Later I saw the desk person laughing and talking with the kitchen staffer, pointing toward me. She clearly knew who I meant, and that felt completely unprofessional. I'm not planning to come back.

The only problem was our room door. It was heavy to open and slammed shut. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and spacious, housekeeping came daily, breakfast was hot each day, and the pool and spa were clean. A good stay.

Breakfast tasted good, but seeing every pastry and slice of bread wrapped in plastic felt like a lot of unnecessary waste when there's already plastic everywhere. The elevator was painfully slow, and the fitness room was tiny with no upper-body strength equipment. For $171 a night, I expected a bit more. The bed was rock hard, and I was glad the sleeper couch had a halfway decent mattress or I probably would've been up all night. My room looked out at the dumpster, with a noisy garbage truck banging around. I was paying more than the average rate, but it felt like I got the room nobody wanted. The place was okay, I guess.
