At least the bed was clean and comfortable. The room itself was filthy, though: toothpaste spit on the bathroom mirror, a dirty toilet, dusty end tables, and a desk chair that looked like it had been pulled out of a landfill years ago. My first room was a smoking room. I went back to ask for a non-smoking one, but the replacement only smelled less smoky. I had to leave the door open for 20 minutes in below-freezing weather to air it out.

I was happy with the room for the price and would stay here again. I was in the middle of moving and spent a few nights here. It was cleaner than most cheaper motels I’ve used before. The towels were worn, and the floors weren’t very clean. After a shower, just walking around for a minute left the soles of my feet black. Still, I’d use this motel again.

I can’t say what the place is like since I haven’t stayed there. I’m posting because Google’s very subpar AI said dogs are allowed for a cleaning fee. That’s completely wrong. Dogs are NOT allowed.

I ended up finding another hotel, but wanted to warn people about Westwood Motor Lodge. When I complained that my room smelled awful, I said I wouldn’t bring my belongings in until the stink was gone. They ignored me and offered no other room or help. I cleaned the room from top to bottom, even the curtains, using $20 worth of supplies I bought, then left for a few hours. The smell was still unbearable when I returned. I asked for a different room or at least half my money back so I could stay somewhere else. The man lost control, screamed, and said he was calling the cops. I told him that was fine and hoped the town cops would spread the news about the smell. I waited for police, but the owner had made a bluff call, so I went to the station myself to complain. They said it was a civil matter. I was out the hotel money, and taking time off for court would cost more than the room. I felt ignored when I first reported the stink, and the staff and owner didn’t seem concerned about the smell around them either. Watch out for these sand flea owners.

The two people managing the place were such a joy, and I’m grateful my son and I had a roof over our heads. We left after finding somewhere cheaper, though I wish they’d offered us the same deal. I miss them both. It was clean, and I thought the beds were comfortable.
