Fairfield Inn & Suites Chicago Tinley Park

This felt like a two-star stay. It wasn’t the worst hotel we’ve been to, but we wouldn’t return. The room was okay for furnishings and general quality, with one queen bed, a fridge, microwave, and small closet. We couldn’t find a hair dryer. The TV looked old and small, though we didn’t try it. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but the pillows were very flat. Cleanliness was lacking: residue in the shower, bobby pins and hair on the floor, and a visible footprint in the bathroom. The shower drain was partly clogged, too. Management came by because showering with the bathroom door open apparently set off the fire alarm. There was no working fan, though, and with the door closed the room got so humid that every surface was wet. Breakfast was free but had few options. The exercise room has a treadmill and elliptical, plus dumbbells and a bench, but not much room for other workouts.

I felt completely safe here as a solo female traveler, and I’d definitely come back. The staff were super friendly, the room was much bigger than I expected, and breakfast was a proper Marriott breakfast with lots of choices. They also allow guests aged 18 and up to check in, which is rare.

Service was friendly and efficient, and the hotel was otherwise clean, though it could use some updating. There are a few places to eat within walking distance, including Cracker Barrel. The pillowcase had grime on it, so I wonder how housekeeping missed that. Check the well in the in-room coffee maker before using it, since there was scale buildup. The TVs are old but work.

Robert got us checked in a little early, and Rodney dealt with our bathroom lights issue incredibly fast. When the lights wouldn’t turn on, he moved us to an upgraded room. The rooms are a bit older, but clean, and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast had very good options, and service from Rodney and Robert was excellent. I highly recommend staying here in the Tinley Park area.
