The shared space in the main A-frame gave us plenty to do: my brothers and I spent a lot of time at the ping pong table, and there were movies, puzzles, plus a well-stocked industrial kitchen with spices. The owners and caretakers were kind, and hearing elk calls at night is a memory I’ll keep. Breakfast at the diner across the street came with the room, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The location is great, and the tepees with fire pits look like they could make for a wonderful stay. Without the mice, we’d have given it five stars and would love to return for the Pendleton round up next year. But the rodent problem was serious and needs fixing before this feels safe to stay in. We found droppings and seeds in both bathrooms and the bathtub. There were droppings in my parents’ bed, too, and scattered through the room we shared. On our last morning, we watched a mouse run across the room and under my bed. We stayed two nights and couldn’t find another place because hotels within 50 miles were booked for the Pendleton round up. There’s no cell service, and Wi-Fi is only at the diner/store across the street. The place felt a little run down, the fitted sheet kept slipping off because its elastic was worn out, and hot water is limited, so showers need to be quick.
