Mizpah Hotel

We drove all the way from Utah for the experience, and it didn’t disappoint. The first night in room 507, I felt someone playing with my hair, then later had a big bout of sleep paralysis. Strange. The second night was when things got interesting. We took the guided tour and enjoyed it, though nothing happened during the tour. Later, sitting in the common area around the 500 rooms, my husband felt a really eerie presence that gave him goose bumps and left him rattled. We later got multiple photos of what looked like a spirit in orbit or mist form. By the lady in red’s room, I caught something holding my husband’s hand. Then we caught another presence in our room. It was an amazing time, and we’d visit again!

I love that they kept the hotel old school while adding upgraded amenities. The shower pressure was great, and the claw foot tub was roomy enough to stretch out in. Sadly, we couldn’t try the Dempsey dining room since everything was closed for Martin Luther King Day.

I had been looking forward to staying at the Mizpah after reading the reviews, but sadly I didn’t enjoy it. The room was small, though clean and tidy, and the shower pressure was really good. The bed was comfortable, but I slept poorly. The whole house felt musty and the air was thick, even though it was cold outside, and the windows wouldn’t open to let in fresh air. The girl at the front desk was friendly, but at checkout she didn’t seem very interested in how my stay had gone. Maybe the ghost energy got to me, but something just felt off. Tonopah itself wasn’t my cup of tea either. The whole town gave me bad vibes.

This hotel is a gem in the middle of the desert, or maybe a silver ore. 😂 The owners have kept its original 1907 look and feel, and it has a lot of charm. The rooms were clean and the beds really comfy. I liked the “Mizpah Review” too, which tells you about the hotel and the history of Tonopah and goldfield. I loved it and will be back.
