Dancing Bear Lodge

I got married at Dancing Bear this past August, and everyone involved and the venue were wonderful. I’ve been there several times, and every visit has meant great food, a comfortable feeling, and a really enjoyable time. Kristy Watlington is so down to earth that I’d trust her with my life as a wedding planner. It’s a magical place!

For a quick weekend in the area, we stayed in a private cabin and had a wonderful time. It was nicely furnished, with a very comfortable bed and a wood-burning fireplace. The porch had a rocking chair, a swing, and a hot tub. There’s plenty nearby on site, including two restaurants, a general store, a coffee shop, and a souvenir shop. Everyone on staff was helpful and friendly, and the location was beautiful and very quiet. We’ll stay here whenever we visit again.

The bicycle trails here are amazing, and the whole place has a peaceful, distinctive feel. People are friendly, and it’s a handy base for visiting the Smokys: Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Maryville, and Knoxville are all just minutes away, not hours.

We had a fun stay in a cozy little cabin. It was cute and warm inside, with just the mountain cabin feel we wanted. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the location was peaceful and charming. We’d like to come back. The main things that brought my rating down were cleanliness and the jacuzzi. I dropped something and looked under the bed, where I found a pretty big pile of dust. I realize they may not clean under the bed every time, but for what we paid, I expected more attention to detail. The jacuzzi water looked greenish and felt slimy, so we didn’t use it all weekend, which was disappointing since we’d really been looking forward to it. It’s still a lovely, charming spot, and we’d recommend it. I hope the cleaning and hot tub upkeep are better next time.
