Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Tracy

The room was comfortable and clean, and the night staff were friendly. I left a day early and was told to ask the third-party booking company about a refund for that last night. After checkout I called with one basic question, whether there can be a delay before the third party contacts the hotel to confirm an early checkout. The front desk woman had a sharp tone right away. She kept interrupting and assuming I was asking something else, then said I wasn't a guest anymore and she couldn't help. I was trying to explain that I understood, but she hung up before I could finish the question. I wasn't giving her attitude. I was glad I'd stayed until that call, which made me decide I wouldn't return. Apparently the customer service turns horrible once you've checked out.

Jamie on the night shift was really kind, and check-in took only two or three minutes. The suite was spacious and very clean, so I'd absolutely recommend it. I also loved that they keep both regular and decaf coffee available 24/7. There are stovetops in the room, but no saucepans to use.

I've been here about 7-8 times and most of those stays have been decent. Parking is a recurring headache, since the lot often fills up and finding a space can be tough. On my latest visit I checked out around 20 minutes late and got charged a $20 fee. The amount isn't the point. It was how they explained it that left a poor impression after so many stays, and now I'm unsure about booking here again.

Grace and Jamie gave great customer service, and the housekeeping team were so friendly and helpful. My room smelled fresh and was very clean. Breakfast was good too, especially the waffles and bacon. I had an exceptional stay.
