Cherry Tree Inn & Suites

The hotel is getting older, but the location is perfect and the staff made the visit enjoyable. Laura at breakfast makes you feel like family, and Josh, the maintenance manager, is efficient and seems able to do anything. The morning and evening front desk staff were helpful and welcoming.

Laura in the breakfast area was so welcoming and always checked that we had everything we needed. Her chocolate cherry coffee is delicious. The front desk staff were wonderful too. I especially liked the fireplace in our room.

We spent our last day watching an eagle and its baby hunt over the bay, which was awesome. The rooms were beautiful, and the newly tiled bathrooms looked great, but there was black mold in all four shower corners and along the track. The bathroom vent was inside the shower and covered in dust and muck, so it was hard to feel clean without touching anything. Our boys spent the whole trip in the beautiful pool, but the strong chemical smell in the pool room was concerning. Their skin itched and burned while swimming. We made them shower every time they got out over the four days, yet by our last day both had visible rashes and burns on their faces. The pool seems to have far too many chemicals and needs closer monitoring. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was served in a beautiful dining area. Still, when I saw someone cooking and prepping food, I expected real eggs and meat. The eggs were dehydrated and the sausage links were microwaved. It wasn't horrible, just not a fresh breakfast. In the off season I think the prices fit the stay, but I wouldn't pay $500 a night for these same amenities in summer.

The pool and hot tub were nice, clean, and at good temperatures, and the snack section was convenient. The walls are thin, though, so you hear a lot from other rooms. The rooms are basic, the toiletries are the worst, and while the hotel was decently clean, it needs a deep clean in the corners, showers, and elevators. We had an issue with the shower, but they fixed it that same day. Breakfast is free and has some variety, but it's basic. We think the eggs are powdered, and the sausage patties weren't good. There was no bacon. The front desk staff work really long hours, and I'm not sure why anyone needs to work 12+ hours.
