We met several nice guests and made new friends during our family's first stay at Sunset Vistas. The staff were attentive and good-humored, and the pool is just steps from the beautiful white-sand beach. We plan to make this our vacation home away from home.
Those water views were so spectacular we ordered Uber Eats a few times just to stay in. The layout is a real highlight, with a large living room and bedroom balcony, split bedrooms, a full kitchen, and an unusual water-view setup. It was clean, well insulated, and had a fast elevator, plus parking close by. The Cafe and bar on site had competitively priced options we enjoyed. We used the pool, hot tub, and rented a cabana. Next time we'll plan to use the bikes too. It's a private beach getaway with what you need, and John's Pass, shops, restaurants, and boat rentals are nearby.
The location is beautiful, and the pools and Tiki bar were great. Still, I was hoping for a better stay after seeing the good reviews. Our room was dirty and needs updating, and the pullout couch mattress was awful. Check-in was more than an hour late. Staff came into our room to put ice in the fridge without knocking or ringing the working doorbell, which felt completely disrespectful. Cigarette smoke and a marijuana smell made it hard to enjoy the balcony.
Room 501W We've stayed in other Sunset Vista’s units many times without problems, but this one was below par and felt dangerous. The condo didn't seem to have had a proper cleaning in a long time and needs a deep clean. The cooking pans had flaking Teflon, so we couldn't safely use them. There was a coffee maker but no filters, a first for us. A guest at a party kept loud music going until 2 AM, when police were called. Several residents complained to security, but they said there was nothing they could do because nobody answered the door, even though they could hear the music and people screaming. We called the police, and the local officers were very helpful. The bed frame had four sharp edges, and one cut my friend's leg badly at 2 o'clock in the morning. It took over two hours to stop the bleeding. Her insurance was limited and meant lots of out-of-pocket costs, so she called her doctor back in Ohio. The wound couldn't be stitched because it had peeled her skin. I told maintenance the rubber silicone protectors were missing from her bed frame, though mine had them. He said he didn't have any, so I suggested duct tape to cover the razor-sharp edges. He refused and told me to tell my guest to be more careful. Her doctor advised her to avoid the beach and pool, so she was stuck on the balcony for three days. The company representing the owner wasn't helpful when I reported what happened. Stay in unit 501W AT YOUR OWN RISK
The balcony looks out over the ocean, and the room is spacious, beautiful, and private. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a big living area. Everything was stocked and clean. The beach is wide and beautiful, with a small poolside bar and plenty of nearby shopping.
