The Sands of Treasure Island

The pool was nice, the staff friendly, and the beach about a five-minute walk away. Those were the bright spots in an otherwise very disappointing stay. Our group booked eight rooms, and cleanliness was a problem in several of them. My own room had filthy floors, which I cleaned myself. Another had dirty towels and rubbish left in the bin. The property badly needs updating: the tub was stained and worn, the mini fridge barely cooled anything, and most of the furnishings looked dated. The listing photos didn’t match what we found. Three TVs didn’t work, and the Wi-Fi was down. I called about it and was told they’d reboot it, but that didn’t fix things. Parking was another headache. There are fewer spaces than rooms, so if you can’t get one, you have to park elsewhere and walk back. I’d stay somewhere else, especially for the price. I was deeply disappointed.

The people working here were genuinely nice, from management and maintenance to housekeeping. The location is great, right by the beach and boardwalk. The room, though, was in very rough shape. The furnishings were sparse, old, and worn, and the floor was filthy. There was no ocean view and no window screens. Parking was limited to around ten spaces, so we had to leave the car across the street about a block away. We managed because of the location, but I wouldn’t return or recommend it. With some care and investment from the owners, this could be a decent place.

The room’s condition was awful. Our feet turned black from the floor in no time; I asked to have it cleaned and was told it would be, but it never happened. The tub had been painted over so many times that the paint was peeling and clogging the shower. There was just one black chair for living room seating, covered in yellow and bleach-like stains. It was so gross I had to cover it with a sheet. The owner should be embarrassed by that furniture. We’d booked one of the few oceanfront suites, but many of the big blinds were missing or kept falling down, leaving us exposed to the neighboring hotel. The grounds also looked neglected compared with nearby hotels, and the photos were misleading. On top of that, the extra parking is across the highway, and there’s no crosswalk for two blocks. I wouldn’t advise staying here.

That sunset from the beach is incredible. As a local from Central Florida, I came here to get away from the usual routine, and it was cozy, quiet, and relaxing. The service was really friendly, the price reasonable, and I’ll be back again. See you all in a few weeks. Thanks for having me 🙏👑🤠
