Our queen room for two was on the small side, but cozy, clean, and nicely decorated. The staff were polite and understanding when we called to say traffic had delayed us past check-in time. The woman on the phone said it was no problem and that we could go into the room that night, then check in the next morning. It’s right outside Acadia National Park. I’d definitely stay again. Thanks, staff of Leona’s! :)

The room was disgusting, and the smell was enough to make me gag. We tried to put up with it, but at 2:30 am the window AC started making a loud noise and throwing sparks. We unplugged it and had no air until checkout. Thin sheer curtains let bright sunlight in early, which we didn’t want. When we left, no one was in the office, so I put the keys on the table and went. At check-in, the manager was rude from the start and questioned our group of five, three adults, a teenager, and an infant. She said she’d charge for an extra person because the limit was four to a room. I said I didn’t think an infant counted as an adult, and the booking didn’t offer an option to add children. She told us rudely that someone had to leave. To avoid a charge, we took the teenager to stay with other family members at their motel down the road. This was a poorly managed place with rude customer service. I highly recommend going elsewhere, like Open Hearth Inn, which is right down the road. The price wasn’t worth this horrible stay, and I wish I’d gone somewhere else.
The owner was friendly and worked hard to please, and the place is clean and inexpensive, with a good mattress, hot water, and a convenient spot near Acadia. I stayed in an unremodeled room. It was small, and sound carried through the walls. There weren’t many TV channels, the Wi-Fi had a problem, and the shower was hard to adjust between cold and hot. The rooms are upstairs, so you have to climb stairs. Airport and road noise came through, and outside light shone through the door window, so I covered it with a towel. Fine for a night or two, but not my first choice for a longer Acadia visit.
We stayed here years ago, and it was a horror show. The owners were like people out of the Bates motel. I can’t believe they’re still in business.
We booked and paid by credit card ahead of time, expecting a room when we arrived around 8 pm, as we had told the owner. But we arrived earlier than planned and were told the room had been resold. The owner told us to find a room somewhere else.
