We were heading to Denver with our three kids and needed somewhere to rest late at night. Most places were booked, so we were glad to find this little gem and get a room with two double beds. It was quiet, the bathrooms were clean, and there was hot water. The rooms aren’t new-looking, but they’re very clean, which is what matters to me. They look less nice from the outside than they do inside. We stayed during summer break, and although the place allows 420, we had no problems. The breakfast selection surprised us: eggs, a juice machine, bread, muffins, cereal, and waffles. The waffle maker was empty at 8:00, but a very nice woman at the front filled it for us, and the kids were happy. I travel by car a lot and have stayed in plenty of hotels. This one was a good choice, and I was happy with the service. We always check mattresses and bed frames for bed bugs, and didn’t find any here. I’d stay again if I’m in the area. Thanks for the good service.

Our upstairs room was large, with two double beds and a spacious bathroom. There were two floor fans and a ceiling fan, along with an air conditioner. It was fairly quiet, though we arrived at 10pm while traveling, so maybe that explains it. The website says rooms have a microwave and fridge, but ours had neither. It wasn’t a big problem, just a little odd.

The room was at the end of the building and seemed like it might have been converted from a storage space. The layout was strange, and the key cards wouldn’t work. My boyfriend had to go back to get his card reprogrammed while I was showering. Afterward, I wiped water off the floor with a towel that came away looking muddy, and the floor didn’t seem to have been cleaned. The bed was awful and uncomfortable, and the tiny pillows were useless. Light from outside came through the blinds all night, so neither of us slept. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

The place was clean and allowed smoking and 420 use. That’s all I liked. The covers felt like they were from the 60s and were scratchy, and the bathroom fan rattled so badly we showered in the dark. The desk worker had a terrible attitude at both check-in and check-out. Breakfast was average. It’s an option if you need something cheap, but for another $20 I’d go to the Days Inn.

We used the campground behind the hotel. The sites were bigger than usual and mostly clean, but the trash area was neglected. Our water spigot was broken, though we could use the next one. The 30 amp plug was broken too; we managed with a 50 amp adapter, even though that was cracked as well. The place badly needs maintenance. There are no picnic tables, and most guests seemed to be long-term residents in older trailers. At $55 a night, it felt overpriced. I gave it three stars only because the campgrounds down the street were trashier and felt more dangerous. Trinidad is a nice area with great state parks worth visiting, but the RV camps in town are trash. We’ll try the Trinidad lake state park campground next time if there’s space. This place should cost $35 a night.
