Express Inn & Suites Trion

The best part was checking out. We had a presidential suite, but it felt like it was from a third-world country. The building looked dated and poorly kept, with peeling paint, and the sleeping area needed work. The chairs were tiny and uncomfortable. On the king bed there were only three small pillows, and no blanket or quilt, just a sheet and something that looked like a tablecloth used as a cover. Though we had a smoke-free room, the bed cover had obvious cigarette burns. There’s no elevator, which is a problem if you have bad knees like I do. The bathroom was cramped, with a toilet that barely came up to my knee even though I’m short, a tiny tub, and a door you could hardly close. The outside ice machine didn't work, which was rough in the July heat, and the drink machine was full of orange soda with no diet options. The room smelled strongly of cannabis, apparently from someone nearby. Local police patrol the area and say it's a popular place to get a deal, not a room. Traffic noise in the parking lot went on all night and kept me from sleeping. Staff parked under the check-in canopy, then in a marked handicap spot.
