Courtyard by Marriott Troy

The lobby looks renovated, but the guest rooms are in dilapidated shape. The décor and fixtures are outdated, and the lotion, conditioner, and shampoo dispensers were barely attached because the glue and caulking had deteriorated. The tub was dirty and the toilet area hadn’t been properly cleaned. I ended up cleaning the bathroom myself, changing the bedding, and going to the front desk every day for fresh towels. For these room prices, guests should be able to expect clean, comfortable, functional rooms and ongoing upkeep. Room servicing was unacceptable throughout my stay. The hotel still cites COVID to explain why it doesn’t clean rooms daily, even though many hotels around the country have resumed standard service. On the scheduled housekeeping day, trash was left behind and the soiled sheets weren’t removed. There was a large handprint on the mirror when I arrived, and the sheets had been put on inside out. When I asked the front desk what a room refresh should include, they said changing the sheets, supplying fresh towels, and emptying the trash. None of that was done properly. Debris that was already on the carpet when I checked in stayed there for the whole visit. The hotel seems to get steady business from NCAA sports teams visiting Troy University, but the state of the rooms is a sharp contrast to the renovated lobby.
