Embassy Suites Detroit - Troy-Auburn Hills

The hotel was decent overall, and the staff were friendly and professional. The murder mystery crew and staff were great too. I enjoyed the breakfast omelets, but the line got chaotic with lots of kids running around without shoes or shirts and dripping wet. The floor was slippery. The same thing happened in the gym, where kids were using it like a playground in wet clothes and without shoes. Staff walked by but didn’t say anything. I like to work out in the morning, so that was disappointing. Aside from that, it was a decent place to stay.

The hotel and rooms were nice, and the breakfast service was great, but our weekend stay was a very poor experience. We had two rooms and an infant with us on Friday and Saturday. There were lots of elementary-age children staying there, rowdy and unsupervised. At 12:30 am I called the front desk and asked them to step in. They hung up on me, and the noise, which the parents seemed to allow, continued until 1:30 am. We got no apology, sympathy, or compensation for losing a night’s sleep. There was no security, and the front desk seemed overwhelmed, indifferent, or both. We moved to the Fairfield Inn in Troy for our first night so we could get some rest. I’d advise people not to stay here on weekends.

Larry looked after us throughout our three-night stay, and he was both professional and kind. Thanks so much to him. Embassy Suites is always clean, has great service, and serves a good breakfast.

The only drawback I noticed was the bathroom lighting. My wife struggled to do her makeup because it was too dim. Otherwise, the room was nice and the bed comfortable. A nice extra is that each adult over 21 gets two free drinks at happy hour, which helps offset the $15 daily parking fee. I thought the hotel was great.
