I found what looked like an unusually good price on VRBO and called them to check that it was valid and not a scam. They told me to contact the host. I tried calling the host at least 5x before I reached anyone. Then I was told the price was wrong and I should cancel and book again. When I asked for the manager to help sort it out, he denied responsibility and sent me back to VRBO. He also accused me of trying to take advantage of the incorrect price. That’s not a good way to treat a customer who’s checking things carefully before making a reservation. I said I wasn’t demanding the listed price, just asking what he could do to help. He still wouldn’t apologize or offer anything other than telling me to talk to VRBO. Fernando was rude and unhelpful. I’m now waiting to see whether he cancels my reservation. Don’t go here if you want a business that cares about your satisfaction as a paying customer.

At Donner Lake Village, we stayed in the really cool studio condo *134 bldg C* and had a great time. It was a convenient spot, right by the parking lot and only steps from the beach. Inside, there were updated amenities, a very comfortable bed, and a nice TV with lots of channels. I’d highly recommend this particular room and the experience at Donner Lake Village.

We’d been passing Donner Lake for over 20 years without realizing Donner Lake Village was there. It turned out to be an unbelievable hidden gem. Most of the rooms I’ve seen seem to have been recently remodeled and well cared for, and many offer lake or partial lake views. The location is handy for several ski resorts and very close to downtown Truckee. The staff are friendly, professional, and very accommodating. Check out the fireplace room overlooking the lake. This will definitely be our regular place to stay, and since it’s right on the lake, we plane to return this summer.

I’ve visited at different times of year, and I’ve cherished every stay. It’s a magnificent spot for peace and relaxation, with the lake in summer and lovely snow in winter. The staff are friendly, and manager Fernando really cares about the guests. Shirley was very pleasant, and Karen at the front desk helped me find a restaurant and shared other local tips. I often use the saunas, and there are several common living rooms where you can sit by the fire and watch the ducks on the lake. Highly recommend!

Donner Lake Village is our go-to place to stay in Tahoe. It’s got spectacular scenery, clean rooms and common areas, and a convenient location just minutes from downtown Truckee and the Donner Summit ski resorts. We like coming in summer and winter. Our favorite is unit #134, with its cozy feel and easy access.
