The two-bedroom, two-bath condo was spacious, and the shuttle made getting to the village easy for hanging out or taking the gondola up the mountain. The ants were the downside. We wanted to cook in the full kitchen, but the ants made it more trouble than it was worth, especially since all we had to clean with was Pledge. Whenever we spotted them, the front desk was already closed. It shuts at 5, and we usually got back from activities later. This was in summer, so maybe ants aren’t an issue in winter. If so, the place would be perfect.

We found check-in easy and check-out seamless, and the lodge had a cozy mountain feel, with a fireplace, fast internet, a good shower, and a comfortable bed. Northstar is only a few minutes from the main attractions around North Lake Tahoe. It’s also convenient if you’re coming from the Bay Area, since the highways are better than the routes to the lake’s southern end. The lodge has several bedrooms and bathrooms, which works especially well for groups bigger than two. I’d recommend staying here.
