Truckee Donner Lodge

The location is easy to reach and very convenient, and the area seems to have a lot of new homes going up. There's potential here, and I hope they listen to guests and make it better. At the moment, though, it felt very average for the price. The room wasn't anything special, with cheap, lumpy beds like the ones at Super 8. The bathroom wasn't very clean, the shower curtain rod looked ready to fall, and the fan was horribly loud without working. There are no vending machines, and the laundry room doesn't even have a soap dispenser. Who brings laundry soap on vacation?

The room was spacious, clean, and seemed to have been renovated recently. It had a microwave and fridge, and parking right out front. Convenient for our family of four, though the elevator was a little slow.

I've never dealt with hotel staff this badly before. We booked through Booking.com, and even though Booking has been contacting the hotel to help us reschedule, the staff won't cooperate. We emailed them, but they said they weren't receiving the messages. They also said they wouldn't help, hung up on calls, and told us they wouldn't answer any calls. Now we're stuck with a reservation while Booking.com is willing to help and the hotel won't even listen. We found them extremely rude and believe they've been lying to us.

I spent a week trying to sort out a travel problem caused by severe weather and highway closures, and was extremely disappointed by the management at Truckee Donner Lodge. The front desk repeatedly said the manager was unavailable and wouldn't help with an Expedia change, even though the storm had made the hotel unreachable. They seem to be using the non-refundable fine print to profit from families stranded by road closures. Other lodges in Truckee understand mountain travel and care about guests. Stay somewhere else. It was impossible to reach management.
