Comfort Suites At Tucson Mall

John gave us lots of useful information about the area and places to eat when we checked in. The breakfast staff kept the hot food stocked, with choices like yogurt, toast, and waffles, and breakfast was great. The staff overall were outstanding. The hotel had recently been renovated and was very clean, with a good central location. Our room was clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable.

As soon as we entered the room, a strong musty, moldy smell hit us. There was visible mold in cracks around parts of the room, and the air smelled heavily of water damage. My friend, who has CIRS, broke out in hives within minutes, and I started getting small skin rashes. We couldn’t tolerate being inside, so we ate dinner on the curb and didn’t feel safe unpacking. At the front desk, the hotel refused a refund and said they were fully booked, so they couldn’t move us. We had no options. For a moment, we seriously considered sleeping in the car, but instead checked out and spent extra money booking another hotel at the last minute. A hotel room should be clean, safe, and habitable. This wasn’t any of those, and management’s lack of concern and refusal to make things right was extremely disappointing. I’d strongly caution others before booking here.

The staff were wonderful and very helpful. They suggested places to visit and eat, and even let us check in early while they were busy. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Hot water was a problem whenever I showered, lukewarm at best, though the morning shower was warmer. I could hear everything from the room unless I left the fan on. The door didn’t seem insulated for noise, so sounds came through as if it were constantly cracked open.

John was friendly and professional, and went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and felt comfortable. Our room was clean and well cared for, and he helped whenever we needed anything. We’d definitely stay here again because of the excellent service he gave us.
