Hampton Inn Tucson-Airport

I’ve stayed at this location many times over the past few years and usually enjoyed it. The employees have always been helpful and friendly, and the rooms have generally been immaculate. But my last two stays haven’t been up to par. For nearly $200 a night, I expected the fourth-floor room I had this weekend to be as clean as usual. It smelled like dirty diapers, the floor looked unvacuumed, and the shower door had a thick film on it. I was shocked at how poorly it seemed to have been cleaned. The hallways were also in disarray. My parents had a very clean room on the first floor, so I wondered what had changed, whether management had changed or something else. One more thing: if housekeeping is going to knock and wake people before checkout, they should be able to communicate in English so I can understand them. This is a Hilton property, not a Motel 6, and at that price it was far below Hilton standards.

I came to Tucson for one of the Gem and Mineral shows, planning to make it a day trip, but got sick and needed a room for the night. We chose the Hampton Inn for its location. The lobby was spotless and welcoming, and online check-in made things easy, including getting extra room keys. My first room had an issue, but Debbie at the front desk switched me to another without any fuss and apologized that the original wasn’t perfect. The new room was spotless and just right for recovering. Free bottles of water and coffee in the lobby were a nice touch, and there’s a well-stocked pantry with snacks, soda, beer, and wine. Breakfast had a good range of familiar choices: pastries, yogurt, cereal, eggs, sausage, and make-your-own waffles in two flavors, plus juice, milk, and the usual coffee station. I had the egg white frittata, sausage, and two pastries, and they were all delicious. There was plenty of parking, and the hotel felt very safe.

The staff were incredibly kind, and Kayleigh was a standout. I called twice before arriving and she was also the one who checked me in. She handled my requests attentively and gently, while staying professional. The room was very spacious and clean, and breakfast was good. It’s just a 10-minute walk from the Tucson Airport. During the Gem Show, they even offered complimentary rides to three of the main shows and pickups afterward. I couldn’t have been happier with the comfortable stay. This hotel deserves 10 stars, and I’d highly recommend it!

The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, and the staff were friendly. It’s the best hotel near the airport, with a convenient airport shuttle and decent breakfast. I could hear people talking in the pool and hallway from my room.
