Super 8 by Wyndham Turlock

The shower was a bit small, but the room worked fine for a night’s sleep. Alicia S. was awesome. I arrived late and found her folding a big blue bin of towels. Check-in was easy, and she even let me choose from the rooms available.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here while passing through Turlock. The rooms were nasty, with cigarette holes in all the blankets, and the supposedly non-smoking room smelled like someone had been smoking in it. The maids didn’t wear uniforms and smoked right outside the rooms they were cleaning, with the doors open. If you’re homeless, don’t care, and need somewhere to stay, this might be the place for you.

I didn’t feel safe or comfortable, and wouldn’t recommend staying here. The parking lot was noisy at 3 a.m., with people leaving car doors open and playing loud music, while others banged on doors and yelled names. It seemed like a lot of high-traffic druggie-type activity. We booked two nights, but I wouldn’t stay a second night and was going to ask for another room, just to maybe get some rest. The check-in staff were very friendly and accommodating, but the rooms didn’t match the advertisement. The bedspread was dirty and had burn holes, the shower floor was filthy with bits of paper still stuck to it, and the bathroom door was broken and taped together. There was no fridge or microwave, and the pool was tiny. The shower also leaked outside the stall.

At least the pool was clean. The beds were hard, the sheets thin, and the rooms smelled like dirty water and seemed poorly maintained. There were gaps around the door, and the A/C worked poorly.
