The lobby downstairs was lovely and well kept, and the staff were friendly. They even had a gift for our dog, and having a restaurant downstairs was handy. We were here for two nights for an event at the conference center next door, but the room was just okay. The beds weren't comfortable, and the bathroom was so cramped that the open door left about an inch between it and the toilet. For what this place charges, it feels overdue for an upgrade. The third-floor hallway smelled moldy, and the fraternity parties on the next street kept us awake until nearly 1 a.m. both nights. Our windows rattled from the music. Since it's on a college campus, some noise is to be expected, but if staying here hadn't been suggested to us, we wouldn't have chosen it. I've stayed in cheaper hotels that were much nicer.

The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was pretty minimal, though there was hardly anyone around while we were there, with the students gone and the Alabama game away. I usually stick to Hiltons, so this was nicer than I expected. I'd definitely return.

The breakfast buffet at Hotel Capstone was amazing, though expensive. The room itself was much too warm at 78 degrees. After we complained, maintenance told us the only option was to turn off the heat. We did, but by morning it had only cooled to 76, so we moved to Home 2 Suites downtown, which cost half as much and was better in every way. The walls were paper thin too. We could hear normal conversations from both rooms beside us, and even heard someone snoring in the morning.

Andy was so warm and helpful when I stopped by for drinks. Their Christmas cocktails were amazing. I tried Santa's old fashion, and it was legendary. I've never seen that done before. I'll have to come back with friends.

We came to Tuscaloosa for parents weekend after the hotel we'd booked lost power and turned out to be filthy, so we made a last-minute reservation here. They kindly got us into a room when we arrived at 10 AM. Ralph and Gracie helped us and couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The whole hotel was wonderful, and we'll definitely stay again.
