Suburban's Lavilla Inn

I had to stay for two weeks after recently losing my dad, and I couldn't afford to go somewhere else. There was no room service or way to clean the room, and the sheets were stained; the pillows were torn and stained too. The bathroom was in terrible shape: the sink overflowed, the toilet needed plunging every time, and the tub was dirty with what looked like mold. The shower had barely enough pressure, only hot water, and I got scalded the first night. After a shower, the tub took eight hours to drain. They provided no towels, washcloths, or other bathroom supplies, just one roll of toilet paper for the week. At check-in, I had to use Google Translate with the owners or receptionist because they couldn't speak English. They accepted cash only, gave me no receipt, and kept my $100 deposit instead of returning it at checkout. I have photos and videos of the room, but no receipt to document the payment. I'm simply asking for my deposit back and would like to stay as anonymous as I can because I don't know whether the non-American owners might retaliate.

It was quiet at night, and there are all kinds of stores nearby. The price is great, and the office clerk was really nice. Our room smelled good and looked clean as soon as we walked in, with a clean bed and no bugs. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone on a tight budget.

The internet never worked on any device, and the kitchen in the room was unusable. Cracked windows let the outside elements in, the fire alarm had been ripped from the ceiling, and there were holes all over the walls. The mildew smell was strong and persistent, possibly mold. On our first night there were cockroaches everywhere, and they didn't even run from the lights or from us. My partner and I couldn't look anywhere without seeing one. Neighbors kept slamming things, and staff came in at random times day and night without knocking. Getting anyone to the counter was an act of congress, with plenty of hateful sideways looks. The way staff treated us felt like guards dealing with unruly convicts. I'm tired of paying for a room and being treated like I'm dirty or shady. This is the worst motel in Greene County, possibly in the state of Tennessee.

The beds were right on the floor, the box spring was stained, and everything reeked of smoke. A dog was left alone barking, which wasn't his fault. It cost more than the much nicer Greeneville Inn. The housekeeper who lives there suggested all sorts of things to make me comfortable, but still, hard pass.
