The inn has plenty of character, with its quirky 150-year-old building in a beautifully remote setting. We enjoyed staying there, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Still, check dining hours before booking. The on-site restaurant is closed except for breakfast, and the nearest other dining is 25 miles away, about a 30-minute drive. Punky's food truck is a local option until 6pm, though the food was average at best. Neither the inn's website nor Expedia clearly mentions the restaurant closure. Since the inn is remote and the dining had positive reviews, that affected our decision to stay. When we arrived, we had only 40 minutes to order from Punky's or decide to drive to Buena Vista for dinner. Confirm meal options ahead of time so you don't get caught out.

We got to Twin Lakes Saloon at 7:25pm on Saturday with four people, hoping to have dinner. The hostess hurried to the door, locked it, then went back to the host area and acted as if she couldn't see us. It felt bizarre and awkward. After we'd waited outside for a few minutes, she opened the door a crack and mumbled that they already had people seated, the kitchen was backed up, and they needed to prep for Sunday brunch. We left and went to Treeline in Leadville, where the food and service were outstanding. Twin Lakes Saloon is a bit of a drive for us, so we're in no hurry to return. The hospitality seemed lacking, and the kitchen appeared understaffed and unprepared for regular weekend dinner service.

Andy was so kind and made check-in easy, even though we got lost and arrived late. The room was comfortable, and everything was very clean. Our private bathroom and shower were huge, just down the hall, and there was a great breakfast and sitting area downstairs. They'd thought of so many little extras. It was exactly the kind of charming Colorado stay you'd hope for. We'll definitely recommend it and hope to come back. Try the water they recommend, too. It's so worth it!

After a day outdoors, this is a cozy, rustic place to relax. Twin Lakes Inn & Saloon has loads of classic charm, and I really enjoyed the hearty comfort food and local brews. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the warm atmosphere. A great spot to unwind and get a feel for the local flavor.

We loved dinner at the Twin Lakes Inn and Saloon. The views were beautiful, and the staff made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in. Every dish we tried was outstanding. The walleye and corn casserole were fantastic, and the salmon and BBQ chicken sandwich were just as good. The food was presented with such care, looking as lovely as it tasted. Big kudos to the chef and staff. Cheesecake was the perfect finish to a fantastic meal!
