DeSoto Beach Gardens

The beach is an easy walk, and restaurants are close by. South Beach, with most of the “action,” is about 1.4 miles south, while the quieter North Beach and its lighthouse are roughly 0.8 miles north. We explored by walking up and down the beach. You can also drive between them along Butler Ave. Tybee is a really nice beach town, and DeSoto Beach Gardens worked well as a base for a few days of exploring. Having traveled up and down the East Coast, I'd say it's one of the better beach towns we've visited. We stayed in the North Beach Garden room, one of three Beach Garden rooms attached to the B & B building. Two are on its left side and one is at the front right corner. The room was large, with a living room, king bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. It was comfortable and quiet, and clean, though a little beat up, especially the shower, where there was mold and peeling paint. We could use the hotel pool, get coffee 24 hours a day, and have the free breakfast in the hotel lobby. Housekeeping was hit or miss over our four nights. Some days they came, other days they didn't. Parking at DeSotos is tight. We were asked to use the gravel lot across the street, which suited us because there was more space and less risk of door dings.
