Sky Suites

My daughter and I were bitten by bed bugs, and the room was disgusting. I bought cleaning supplies because the place was so bad. I checked one bed for bugs but not the other, and I regret that. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, so I'm giving everything one star. Please think twice before booking here.

The location is what I really liked: about a two-minute walk to the beach is hard to beat. It's a pretty trashy place, though, and the walk to our room smelled like urine. It needs renovating. No bed bugs for us, which was a plus, and I guess we got lucky because I read lots of people had dealt with them. The TV was really dark and had white dots all over the screen; I'm not sure what's wrong with it. I attached a picture below. We were on a budget vacation and booked the cheapest place I could find, about $500 for four nights, so make of that what you will. Not terrible, not great, just a place to sleep with quick beach access. The lady at the front desk was super sweet. Hope this helps someone.

The front desk guy was really nice, and the room was clean overall with no bugs that I saw. But the place needs major upgrades. The furniture and linens felt like they were from the 1960s, and there were yellow stains on the sheets. The lighting was so dim it felt like a scary movie, and the TV and WiFi only worked some of the time. It’s right across from the beach, which is good, but I only stayed because it got too late to drive back to my room in Savannah. If I’d had more time, I would’ve left. I can’t believe it costs over $100 a night. It needs fresh paint, new linens, and new lights. I wouldn’t stay more than one night ever, unless you like old furniture and bedding.

We booked here again for the 4th. It’s an older motel, and the furniture is dated, but our second-floor nonsmoking room smelled clean when we arrived and was tidy. The beds were comfortable, and the man who checked me in was nice. It’s the cheapest motel we’ve found on Tybee, and I like that it’s away from the pier and the traffic there. We stayed at a place near the pier before that was much worse, with a hard bed and a bathroom that smelled like sewage. This isn’t a modern, updated room, but if you want a clean, comfortable bed near the beach and pool, it works. We’ve definitely stayed in worse motels on Tybee.
