Residence Inn by Marriott Akron South / Green

The bed was the big drawback. It was incredibly hard, even compared with my pretty firm bed at home, and my girlfriend and I both woke up with sore backs and couldn’t get comfortable. Otherwise it was an average stay, with courteous, professional staff and a pretty great breakfast with lots of choices. The rooms were spacious, almost like little studio apartments. Water pressure was amazing, but I don’t get why the shower had only half a door when water sprayed everywhere.

The location was central, and the hotel worked well for our group of four. We had a large room with a pullout bed, plus all the kitchen appliances we needed to cook our own food. Breakfast was included, and there was a big indoor pool and hot tub. We could also use the outdoor fireplace and barbecue. It’d suit families or larger groups, and couples too.

The room was huge, but the rest of the stay was rough. The room took all night to warm up, as if the newer building had no insulation. We had to let the shower run for five minutes before the water felt even a little warm. The toilet paper holder had been ripped off the wall and was sitting on a ledge by the window, and the pool was closed. Management needs to step it up. For a newer hotel, this place feels like a dump.

April at the front desk was awesome, really kind and helpful, and the bartender was great too. The room wasn’t cleaned very well before we arrived. The soap dish looked like it had never been cleaned and was covered in soap residue. Yuk.
