The toilet kept clogging, and that became the biggest problem over our weekend. It worked briefly after someone addressed it, but clogged again after two or three flushes. My husband couldn’t use it properly all weekend. The wet towels from the bathroom flood were still piled there when we got back, and dirty water stains remained on the side of the tub. Nobody brought the clean sheets we asked about, either, and staff never followed through on the promised room upgrade. We were staying at the Golfer's Inn for the PGA Championship, May 16-18. At first, service was great and we were excited to be there. The room wasn’t great, but seemed fine for the weekend until we found the fridge didn’t work. After my shower that evening, the bathroom floor was flooded. A man came to look after we called the front desk, then left without cleaning up, taking the soaked towels, or returning with a fix. There were moths on the bed, though they flew off when disturbed. Later, marks on the sheets made my husband think they were dirty, but no replacements arrived. I also found the toilet clogged the morning after using it overnight. When I told the front desk before we left for the day, he said he’d handle it. We were so tired when we got back that we just went to bed, despite the recurring clog and the mess. Staff were friendly and spoke as if they’d help, but the place felt poorly maintained and lazily managed. What we expected to be a quaint weekend hotel turned into a really disappointing stay.

For $80 a night, this was a bargain: the room was clean, comfortable, fresh, and updated. I travel often and come to this area for work, and I’d happily stay here again. The first room was pleasant, and so was the second when I returned for the final two nights of my trip. I’d stayed at a Day’s Inn in Plymouth meeting for a few days at $118 a night, and Golfer’s had similar furniture, lighting, and other touches. There’s no free breakfast at Golfers, but the accommodations were just as nice. I found the place by chance after having lived nearby and driven past many times without noticing it after the renovation. On a dreary, snowy night, the lobby was clean and smelled pleasant, more like incense than the other things people suggest. I’m sensitive to smells, and it smelled nice to me. The night manager greeted me with a smile and was helpful. I didn’t notice bugs or a stale cigarette smell. Some people expect a 5-star experience from a 2-star budget hotel and then complain. If you want to see a really shoddy hotel, try the Day’s Inn In Springfield. It costs more than Golfer’s Inn and is a much worse lodging choice. Give Golfer’s a try for clean, comfortable lodging at a budget price. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

The staff were friendly, and the location worked well for our show at The Mann. But the rooms were grimy, especially the bathroom, so bring shower sandals and your own soap and shampoo. We didn’t find bugs in our room, thankfully, though another guest warned us hers had some. The patio looked inviting as a place to relax at night, but the tables and chairs were dirty and the cushions were soaked. This is okay if you just need a cheap place to sleep and cleanliness isn’t a big concern. They need to keep up with cleaning and maintenance.

The room had several problems: the deadbolt was broken, there was no secondary latch or peephole, loose shower hardware, and bathroom tiles let water run into the sleeping area. Noise overnight also kept us from resting. The cosmetic renovations haven’t resolved the underlying issues. We booked because of the strong Expedia reviews, but our stay didn’t live up to them.

I’m staying here because I had to leave home in an emergency, and the ongoing noise has been hard to get resolved. People party and blast music late into the night, and there are mice running in the air conditioner. A woman was attacked during a fight right outside my door, and I had to call the police. There’s no laundry, the fridge keeps going out and doesn’t work well, and there aren’t any shower curtains. There isn’t even a soda machine or a machine that takes debit cards. When I call about these problems, the front desk can be rude and sometimes refuses to address them. It’s nearly impossible to reach management. Don’t come here unless you want a party place rented by the hour.
