Best Western Heritage Inn

The way the room was decorated was strange, especially the wall art placement. Maybe they thought it would make the room look bigger, but it was a yikes. We tried to get a refund and move to another hotel, but were denied. The price was about the same as the nice hotel down the road. At first I tried to shrug things off because it’s an older hotel and we travel with dogs, but the room was way overpriced for what we got. It smelled of wet laundry and stale cigarettes, and there was old dog food on the carpet. In the bathroom I found lower-region hairs and wet tissue left on the counter. Later, something crinkled when I sat in the reading chair, and I found a butter top stuck to its side. Each thing made the next one feel worse. If the room had been clean, I might have felt differently. They need to fire the maid and room designer. My advice is to avoid this place.

I travel for school, and my stays have mostly been positive. The manager and staff are good people and do their best to make things comfortable. The great prices do draw a certain crowd, though, and it can get loud and rowdy at night when people party. The maids do what they can with the rooms, but many have been smoked in. I bring earplugs.

The bed made a terrible noise with every turn, and at first we couldn’t figure out why. When we were leaving the next day, I asked a cleaning person to come hear it. The springs seemed broken, or something like that. The pet-friendly room had an overwhelming odor. I’m not sure what they used to clean it, but luckily we were traveling and had Febreze to cover the smell. The floors were filthy, and pieces were missing from the large mirror. It was a bad experience, and we paid too much for that nightmare of a stay.

The staff were warm, helpful, and friendly, and we appreciated the old-fashioned hospitality. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, and had a really comfortable bed. The shower pressure was amazing, too. Breakfast had lots of hot options, including a delicious make-your-own waffle bar with plenty of toppings. The lobby also had fruit-infused ice water, coffee, and pillow mints, which were nice touches. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. We’ll be back!
