Being right in the village made exploring easy, and the gondola was just steps away. The ski valet was ideally located as soon as we took off our skis and boards. We loved the lodge feel and charm, and we’ll certainly come back. Our family of four had a fantastic stay at the Lodge at Vail. Alex was especially welcoming and professional, explaining the amenities and how to get around. He even brought kid-size robes for our boys to wear to the hot tubs. The clean, well-kept room had plenty of natural light, handy storage, and snacks.

The location was great, but the rest of our stay left me disappointed. The air conditioning barely cooled the room when it was close to 90°F outside, so we had to open the windows. The units were also so noisy that sleeping was hard. Even with ours turned off, we could hear the neighboring ones. Our whole family had a miserable night. One of the main elevators was out, which meant a long walk to our room on the 4th floor. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The team made everything easy, from check-in and ski valet to getting around town. Everyone we met was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, with service noticeably better than at comparable ski hotels. The complimentary rides in the Toyota Sequoias were comfortable and made getting around Vail simple. The location was unbeatable for getting on and off the mountain, and the ski valet was very convenient. We spent three nights at the Lodge at Vail and skied for two days. The pool was a nice place to unwind afterward, and our room was comfortable, though a bit dated and showing its age. We still loved our stay and would happily come back. The service, location, and amenities made for a fantastic experience.

We got our refund after sitting on the phone with hotels.com, but then had to find another hotel at 9:30pm and sort out parking for the games. It made the next day much harder. Quinn called the following day to say he wished he could’ve kept us, but there was something he could’ve done: move us to another room. I expect a gaslight response below. Go anywhere else but here. We booked a month ahead for the GoPro mountain games, hoping to stay near the events. The king room cost $330. We arrived at 7pm and Quinn, who I think was a manager, greeted us. The room was 78 degrees in June. We turned the AC down and after an hour it had gone up to 79. When we called, Quinn sent someone to fix it. They spilled water on the floor and told us to wait 30-40 minutes for the AC to work. It was 9pm by then. I’d just run a 5k and wanted to sleep before the games the next morning. Ten minutes later, it was 80 degrees. Quinn offered a couple of fans and a dehumidifier. We asked to move rooms, but he said they were all booked. On hotels.com, rooms from queen to king were available for much less than we’d paid, around $240. We asked for a refund.

We’ve loved staying at The Lodge at Vail for years, so this week-long visit in Unit 232 was especially disappointing. We’ve stayed here for six years without problems, and the staff have usually been friendly and accommodating. This unit didn’t seem worth the price, and there was no apology or follow-up at checkout. The worst issue was finding bugs in the bed. I told the front desk, but the response felt casual. Maintenance and housekeeping changed the sheets and checked the mattress, without much urgency or concern. We also had to call maintenance several times. The bathroom faucet came right off the wall during normal use, the sink was clogged, and the blinds broke. We were told simply not to use the blinds. We always choose a unit with a kitchen so we can cook, but this one had no oven and very few supplies, making it hard to use.
