Sun Vail 34C - 3 Br Apts

For much less than staying right in the village, these are great-value condos, about a 10-minute walk from the Lionshead Gondola. There's a large heated pool, two hot tubs, and a sauna room. We liked the condo enough that we've already booked our ski vacation here for next year.

This review is only about Unit 34C at 645 N Frontage Road W, Vail, CO 81657. Bugs got into the condo because the windows that opened had no screens, and we even found bugs on a bed. The online photos didn't reflect the unit's actual condition. Several windows barely worked because of poor maintenance and wood rot, and there were signs telling guests not to use them. That's a bad setup for a Colorado summer stay in a property without AC. Housekeeping was inefficient, delaying our access, and the condo had dirty linens and open food containers left by previous guests. The management group knows about the problems but continues renting the unit without disclosing all the details before booking. They were also difficult to deal with and condescending in their messages. I'd avoid this particular unit at Sun Vail.

It's easy to get to Central Vail from this quiet spot in the center of Vail, across I-70 from the village. The freeway is the exception to the quiet.

The condos are just in front of the pedestrian bridge to Lionshead, which makes the location ideal. They seem well maintained and are laid out nicely, with good shared areas. Some are available to rent through VRBO, AirBNB, and similar sites.
