The Niobrara Lodge

Kane at the front desk deserves special mention. He was consistently positive, willing to go above and beyond, and happily helped us get a new room after the first one gave us trouble. We stayed six nights and have been coming to NL for about a week each year in three of the last four years. We’ve noticed the rooms getting worse, with upkeep slipping. In the first room, the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain properly, the faucet flow was poor, there was no wall-mounted hair dryer, and the desk chair was broken and could tip a person onto the floor. We couldn’t get another room until after 3 on day two, and Kane helped us secure it. The shade in the second room was old and cracked, and its broken chain left it closed for the rest of our stay. Since we were on the first floor and only in the room from after 9 p.m. to around 9 a.m., moving just for a new shade didn’t seem worthwhile. Breakfast usually had sausage or bacon, which I like to have. There was sausage on Sunday, but I didn’t see bacon or sausage Monday through Friday, or any fresh fruit.

The staff were very friendly, and our room was a nice size, very clean, with comfortable beds. My only complaint was breakfast: the biscuits and gravy tasted delicious, but the gravy was cold both days. It would have been much better hot.

I was on my bicycle, and the staff were super nice about letting me stay until 1 o’clock the next day because of the storms. The lobby had good coffee, and breakfast was basic, with a make-your-own waffle. The bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioner worked really well.

I walked in feeling discouraged after a bad experience at another motel a few minutes earlier, and Kane quickly got me set up with a room. The lodge was super clean and very inviting, and it’d be a great place to bring your family. I loved the customer service from Kane Fowler at Niobrara Lodge.
