Days Inn by Wyndham Van Horn TX

It looks shabby from outside, but inside it was quiet all night with no traffic noise. The bed and pillows were comfy, and the shower had hot water and good pressure. I liked the full-size fridge, gray laminate floor, and window shade that covered the whole window. The in-room heater was quiet and strong. Breakfast was adequate, with waffles, yogurt, honey buns, cereal, and fruit, and the coffee was excellent. The woman at the desk was super nice. This is my favorite stop on this cross-country trip, and I highly recommend it.

I was passing through because the motel has EV chargers out front. They looked good, but at $0.64 per kWh the price was too much. I realize the motel doesn't control it, but after plugging in and seeing the rate, I unplugged. I didn't need the convenience that badly. The night manager at the desk was friendly and check-in was easy. Breakfast was available in the morning. The room had clean vinyl plank flooring, a hard-surface bathroom counter, and a modern mirror. The bed was clean, if not fancy, and the room was well worth the money. Thank you.

The bed comes with a sheet, blanket, and waffle-style bedspread, so there are a few bedding options. Staff were very friendly and the room was clean. One irritating detail is the bathroom lighting setup. The bathroom light is wired together with the fan and an outside light, making it hard to use the restroom quietly without waking others in the room. That wouldn't matter if you're traveling alone.

We were traveling back and forth between OR and TX and were grateful to find a warm, safe, stable place to regroup for the long drive. The staff were amazing and kind. They let us use the employee restroom, the only one available, and sit inside for the complimentary breakfast. I understand those aren't things they can usually do, and my husband and I appreciated the hospitality so much. The place also had an electric charger.
