We only expected a simple two-night stay in Portland, but this became one of those trips we'll remember and want to repeat. Maria brought so much warmth and kindness to our visit, including generous pours at happy hour and food suggestions around portland. The waterfront hotel is beautiful, there are plenty of amenities and places to eat nearby, and an amazing farmers market was even within walking distance that weekend.
The hotel feels sophisticated but still comfortable, and the room was really cozy and well looked after. Everything was clean, polished, and thoughtfully designed. We ate at both restaurants inside, the rooftop at Witness Tree and The Liquor Cabinet, and service was consistently warm, friendly, and attentive. The welcome started as soon as we pulled up. The valet and bell attendant were professional, welcoming, and quick to help. Inside, the staff made us feel cared for through every interaction, not just moved through check-in. They clearly take pride in their work. I love discovering hidden gems, and Hotel Indigo is definitely one. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a stay that feels personal as well as elevated.
The rooms are really nice, and the staff are AWESOME. The gym is average for a hotel of this caliber. The location is great if that's why you're here, but river-facing rooms get a lot of road noise, especially from street racers and motorcycles revving their engines. SUPER annoying. I had to switch to a room away from the river. The windows don't block the noise well.
For what this place costs, I expected comfort and a decent night's sleep. Instead, I was on the eighth floor and could hear cars and motorcycles revving all night, plus hallway noise through what seemed like paper-thin walls. At one point someone was yelling on the phone about their boyfriend, as if they were in my room. They give out earplugs, which says a lot. I needed them just to get a little sleep, which is ridiculous at this price. I won't be back. The room itself wasn't special and didn't justify the cost. In the morning I couldn't even find cups by the coffee machine. It's a small thing, but basic details like that shouldn't be missed at these rates. This was easily one of my most disappointing hotel stays. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
The hotel is right across the road from a lovely waterfront green space, and the service was good. I haven't tried all the room types, but I suspect a river view may be the best option. My room felt a bit small, though, and the modern decor from the lobby through to the room struck me as sterile rather than cozy. Maybe that's too strong, but very little about it felt warm. I also disliked seeing the water bottles called complimentary when they're part of an amenity fee. Those fees, which you can't opt out of, seem to offer guests negative value here, as they do in most places. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
