Bonanza Motel Vega

It’s an older hotel, but it delivers what you’d expect for the price. Everything was clean, the bathrooms have been updated, and it was a very good deal for the money.

The area was quiet and peaceful, with no highway noise, and parking right outside the room was convenient. The main room’s carpet and surfaces were clean, the bathroom was clean too, and the large shower had plenty of hot water and nice soap and shampoo dispensers. There’s no bathtub. The AC cooled the room well, though it was among the loudest I’ve heard at a budget motel. They also allowed my service dog, and I’m grateful for that. Our room at the Bonanza Hotel, on old Route 66 just off I-40 in Vega, TX, was clean, and the king bed was comfortable. But the room wasn’t wide enough for the two king beds. There was only about 16 inches between the wall and bed, so I had to sidestep to get out. The space would work better with two queen beds or one king. I also had to get down on my hands and knees and move the cabinet to plug in the microwave and refrigerator. The desk chair armrests were worn and peeling, and the lounge chair and ottoman were worn and stained. I killed six flies in the room. To bring the place up to a four-star rating, I’d suggest removing one king bed, replacing the worn chairs and ottoman, and plugging in the microwave and refrigerator.

An older, classic Route 66 motel, nothing fancy, but clean and inexpensive. Just right for a hot shower and a quiet night’s sleep. Nothing wrong with the place.

The heater worked, the shower had hot water, there were no bugs, and none of my things went missing. That was all I needed.
