Motel 6 Ventura, CA - South

I’ve been here four nights, and twice I was woken by what I assume was a fire alarm. Guests have also been arguing and stomping around late at night, with random people holding loud conversations outside. There’s been weed smoking by the pool, and I could smell weed and food cooking from other rooms. Some guests looked homeless or gangster to me. I’m here solo and can handle it, but I’d never bring my family. The motel itself is what I’d expect for the price: it works, and the staff are polite and helpful. The virtual front desk feels a bit odd, but I guess we’re living in the future. The bleach smell in the room is probably a good thing. It’s somewhere to sleep at night.

Hailey at the front desk was incredibly helpful and attentive, doing everything she could to make our stay better. When the AC stopped working, she got it fixed right away. A million stars for her and the property!

Really nostalgic and very, very cool. I stayed a few days, then came back a few weeks later. Probably the best experience I’ve had in a while. The pool was pretty cold, but I could handle it! 💪

My room was set farther in, so thankfully freeway noise wasn’t an issue, though the hotel is very close to the 101 and some rooms get a lot of that sound. I booked a couple of weeks ahead for the Thursday after Labor Day and paid around $95 with taxes, which is cheap for the area. Getting in and out took a detour because the main entrance off Loop Road was blocked. The room was alright and the bed was comfortable, but the common area wasn’t clean. There’s coffee in reception in the morning and no other food. The staff were friendly. The place did feel a bit shady: I could smell weed, a guy asked me for money as soon as I arrived, and I think I saw a couple of hookers leaving early in the morning.
