Super 8 by Wyndham Vernal UT

Our last visit, a few years ago, went well, so we returned over Labor Day weekend after a 300-mile drive. This time the place felt very different. A few people were hanging around and smoking outside, and inside the hotel looked neglected. In the stairwell we passed two people who seemed under the influence, along with trash and a broken railing. We had trouble with a faulty key card, and loud arguing was coming from the room next to ours. While we were trying to get the key problem sorted out, a man walked down the hallway carrying a baseball bat. He didn't come toward us, but it made us uneasy. After we went out for pizza and came back, there seemed to be suspicious activity in the hotel. The kids felt uncomfortable, and with every other hotel in the area booked for the holiday, we decided to drive home instead. It was a disappointing experience and didn't feel family friendly. The 'Welcome' sign and family portrait at the desk seemed ironic given what we saw. I doubt the owners would choose to stay there themselves. We won't return, and I'd suggest finding somewhere else.

The room was okay for the price, but we were charged $15 at checkout over a small pink mark on the white towels. With small children and their “FREE ICE CREAM” advertised, that felt like a setup. Then the front desk entered our payment as a card transaction even though we'd paid cash, and we've had trouble getting our damage deposit back. We live way out of state in Washington, so the service and policies have been a real inconvenience. 9/10 would not recommend.

We've stayed here several times over the years while traveling through Utah, and it keeps delivering. The staff are super friendly, the room was clean and roomy, and the hot tub was actually hot. For the price, I still can't believe how nice the place is. Breakfast is a nice extra, especially the waffle maker and good coffee. It's a handy overnight stop on the way to Denver. I highly recommend this motel.

I stopped here at night while driving across the state. The place was clean and had no odd smell, and the price was low. Nothing fancy: the rooms are simple, the mattresses are firm, and the pillows are soft. Breakfast is basic, with muffins, coffee, cereal, waffles, and yogurt, but enough to grab something before getting back on the road. There's a pool and hot tub too. I didn't compare nearby places, and wasn't looking for anything elaborate. For what it costs, it seemed fine.
