Quality Inn Verona - Staunton North

My daughter was happy with the room, which mattered most to me. She and her husband came down for Thanksgiving, and booking for them was easy. They found the room clean and comfortable, with a fridge for their drinks. I also liked being able to pay the deposit in cash and get it back when they checked out.

The staff were absolutely lovely, and with better attention to standards from management, these problems seem fixable. The room was clean, but a crack around the door let in a breeze and visible light. That wasn't ideal with temperatures below freezing. Breakfast was terrible, and the lobby bathroom was a biohazard. There was poop sprayed over the toilet, and it looked as if the room hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The food didn't seem safe to eat, so we had to spend money on breakfast after planning to save by eating there. The biscuits and gravy looked old and reheated. The biscuits were like hockey pucks, dried out as if they'd sat on the toaster for hours or been reheated over several days. The coffee smelled chemical, and I can't imagine when the machine was last cleaned. My son found the milk was bad when he poured it on cereal, and the orange juice tasted like watered-down yellow water. I'd give breakfast 0/10. I don't expect perfection, but basic health standards should be met. We stayed at another Choice Hotels location for the rest of our trip and had the exact same breakfast, but the quality there was 10/10. This was an acceptable place to stop for one night, but the breakfast and bathroom were major problems.

The gentleman at the desk on Christmas Eve was delightful, and the pet fee was small and reasonable compared with other hotels. The room was clean and quiet, making this a pleasant place to stop for a night. I chose it based on the reviews and wasn't disappointed. I'd stay again.

We arrived around 10 p.m. to a full hotel, but it was still quiet. The room had a slight smell that was easy to fix, and the beds were comfortable. Check-in came with a smile, and the rooms were clean. The free hot breakfast was good, and they had the best hotel lobby coffee I've ever had. I'd recommend staying here.
