We booked this cute, very old hotel for Valentine's Day because Cripple Creek was sold out. It was close to Cripple Creek, and we liked the old-time feel, but the stay had a lot of problems. There was no hot water for the shower. I called Sunshine, who said she'd contact maintenance, but neither she nor maintenance got back to us. The complimentary water and ice in the lobby weren't working either. We were double-booked when we arrived, and someone else's luggage was in our room. Luckily, they weren't there. Sunshine came back to the hotel and moved us to another room. She was very nice, though she definitely smelled of alcohol. The bed was comfortable, but the room was hard to regulate: we couldn't control the heater temperature, and it got stuffy, so we opened a window. An extra heater helped us try to warm up the bathroom. We could hear people walking in the room above and lots of talking below, so we had to leave the TV on to drown it out. Victor felt like a ghost town, with no one around besides business owners. My guy and I walked around alone, which was a little creepy, though we loved Cripple Creek. It was an adventure and we enjoyed ourselves, but we won't stay here again. For what we were charged, it wasn't worth the money.

After checking in online and settling into our room, my wife and I started looking up local landmarks, and exploring became a pleasant obsession. The winding roads around the Victor/Cripple Creek circle were visually stunning. The hotel itself has rooms that mix vintage character with contemporary touches, and the 4-story elevator is the coolest contraption of the last century. I read that it's the oldest working elevator in Colorado. I did very little research before our stay, but I'd recommend the Victor Hotel in Victor Colorado for its old mining-town charm and splendid landscapes.

This hotel is a real gem and very nice. Be prepared for cold weather: the heating is a radiator connected to central steam, so it follows a set schedule. When help is needed, the owners respond quickly and get things sorted out. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

We had a hard time getting the room warm enough for us. The owner was fairly responsive, but nothing was open on Saturday morning, which was frustrating. The town is almost dead, so it was good that Cripple Creek is only 4 miles away.

A great find, and a gem of a historic hotel. The corner rooms have more windows, lovely views, and a bit more space. The rooms are beautifully updated with modern touches like key-code entry, room fridges, and coffee makers. Be sure to look through the historic photos in the lobby.
