Canary Beach Resort

The cabin was incredibly clean, and we were really impressed by how much had improved since last year. It was windy, so leaves blew in whenever we opened the door. I could see how hard it was to keep the place tidy, and I tried to clean up after ourselves each time we came and went so housekeeping wouldn’t have as much to do. We were happy with the amenities and the staff, too. We’ll definitely be back!

We’ve enjoyed the quiet setting and lovely lake views at Canary Beach for more than 10 years. It has a lot of potential as a relaxing family getaway, but the equipment around the water needs attention. Some of the water toys looked worn, and parts of the docks had loose boards and felt unstable. Nothing serious happened while we were there, but I didn’t feel completely at ease having the kids play near the water. A bit more upkeep and regular safety checks would go a long way. The setting itself is lovely.

The water views were so peaceful, and the kids had a blast. The park was clean, and the staff were genuinely nice and made us feel looked after. It’s family-friendly and had everything we needed for a fun, relaxing stay. I fell in love with this place and can’t wait to come back next year! ❤️

Our group had fun thanks to the good weather and each other, but I came away with mixed feelings about the resort. The cabins were comfortable, clean, and well equipped, though my uncle had to fix a toilet handle and the washing machine. The furniture by the lake was sturdy and easy to maintain. The beach was only partly raked on some days, and the lake got weedy beyond the first slide. Site 41 was right across from a swampy area, so after rain there was mud and standing water. The road behind the campsites also made naps difficult for small kids and anyone unused to traffic noise. The picnic table at our cabin had rotting boards, and my aunt fell when one broke. We also had to carry our garbage to the dumpsters and pick up our own supply refills from the lodge. We booked two cabins and three campsites a year ahead, but had trouble reaching staff in the months before our stay. The week we arrived, we were told our group might be split up or sent to overflow parking despite having reserved specific spots. We got three different prices for adding a tent to a campsite, so get the details in writing and keep notes. Check-in felt unwelcoming, with a couple of rude comments to our family, possibly from the manager. We heard from several seasonal guests and returning visitors that they might not come back either. They mentioned the loss of activities like hayrides and kiddie rides, along with rising costs. We were told cabins would go up by about $1000 per week next year. Better communication, maintenance, and hospitality could make this a great place, but we aren’t returning.
