La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Norfolk Virginia Beach

We only needed somewhere to sleep for one night, or we would've left for another hotel. The front desk agent was friendly and helpful, at least. The mattress was comfortable, but the amount of debris on the floor was gross enough that I doubt the room had been cleaned in weeks. We had just one towel for three people, and the cleanliness put us off breakfast, so we went elsewhere. It looked like someone had “renovated” the room by laying vinyl plank badly, with no straight cut edge on the floor. The wrapped mattress, non-fabric furniture, and floors all made it seem like the room had been designed to limit pet damage and bed bugs.

My pets were easily accommodated, and the room was very clean with some nice upgrades. Fresh waffles were available every morning, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A clean, simple stay with a few extra comforts, and a great value.

Everything was awesome, and the $25-a-night fee for my little 7lbs puppy dog Lala was less than at some other hotels. Some places don't take animals at all. I think they only replace towels and soaps, take out the trash, and make the beds. I know this because I booked one night, checked out, then got another room and was given the same one. The hair I saw in the shower the first night was still there the next night. The floors weren't mopped. I wear socks or slippers when I walk around the room.

I checked out early and won't stay here again. People clearly smoke cigarettes and marijuana in the hotel. The first room was disgusting, with a sticky floor, dirty end tables and desks, dirt on all the door boards, and floor panels coming up. The second room was cleaner, but the bedside lamps and bathroom light didn't work. At 2:30am, someone with a dog ran up and down the hallway while it barked, and there was a fight outside at 3:30am.
