Ramada by Wyndham Virginia Beach

It’s right on the beach, but nearly the whole boardwalk has hotels, so there are plenty of other places to consider. This one needs a remodel: the furniture should be replaced and the ceiling paint is peeling. The bathroom is tiny, and the shower was definitely cold. The TV was stuck on setup and its remote didn’t work. Walking through the hot hallways, the elevators sounded creepy, and both had a bad odor. The indoor pool wasn’t heated, despite what the sign said, though the pool room itself was warm. Some arcade games didn’t work either. Then there was the room price plus a $25 resort fee I hadn’t been told about when booking.

My family and I were told we had three strikes and had to leave because my kids were loud. They have ADHD and are on the spectrum, and unfortunately they couldn’t help it. The way we were treated made us feel unwelcome. This hotel wasn’t kid friendly for us, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Please spend your money elsewhere if your children have similar needs.

The front desk team was kind and helpful, and the location is great. The room, though, was filthy: hair behind the door, dirty washcloths left on the curtain rod, sand still piled in the tub, and one side of the curtain rod pulled out of the wall. There weren’t any clean washcloths available. We also couldn’t use either pool while we were there, even though we arrived in time, and the ice machine was broken. I think they were working on it. They gave us a small credit for the pools, which I appreciated. Hopefully ours was just an unusual bad stay.

The room was clean, smelled fine, and the location is fantastic. What really worried me was the hot water. With the sink handle in the middle, where I’d normally expect warm water, it came out scalding. I first washed my hands with it on hot and it hurt. I told the front desk, though our stay was so short I’m not sure they had time to fix it. The room also needs some repairs: the curtains need washing, tile and ceiling work, and new shower caulk. It was a last-minute booking, so it was alright for what I could get. Parking was wild, but I found a spot.
